Cub Cadet "fashion wear"
Dad got this prior to '91. I don't remember the dealership selling the hats.

Nice hat.
Where's mine John? The new ones are not like that, more of a cap, no foam up front, and no picture of the stuff there selling now. I think Tim has one.

It was either a promo thing given to the dealer, or dad got it at a school. Come to think of it, I don't ever remember him going to "Cadet school". Echo, Wisconsin, Briggs, maybe even Kohler, but I don't recall Cadet ever having a school. Once they couldn't get IH hats, the only thing I remember were ones Echo offered. Dad stocked up on black IH hats when they got in the last case of them.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
