Default K301 runs good for 10 min then sputters and dies

Motor is in 123 hydro starts up good runs good for like 10 min then starts to sputter and eventually dies. I have noticed. The carb gets so hot. The fuel vaporizes. As soon as its squirted. Not saying thats a prob. But. Just an observation. Also just changed head gasket i have a carb rebuild kit. Havent used it. Yet. The gov keeps surging back and forth ive noticed as well ok. So any ideas.

The surging governor indicates that it's running lean, i would look for a restriction in the fuel system.

X2. First try adjusting the main jet counter clockwise and see if the surging goes away.

Check the flow from the tank, you might not be getting enough flow to keep the carb full which would make it run lean and eventually die.

Update. Got a carb overhaul kit. Just because. It sat for 20 years. Turns out there was blockage where the fuel line goes into the carb. Littke black pieces. So cleaned. And put back together. Runs perfect. Main jet backed off turn and a half.
This is why i love this. Site. Thank you.

Main jet is normally out more than that.... Yeah, I know. You're going to say that's where the book says to set it. That's a starting point. They most always need to be out further.

Default new fuel line

Did you replace all the fuel line? If not it will happen again.

X2 on the fun line replacement. You also might want to investigate where those little black pieces came from. Perhaps a complete fuel system clean out starting with the fuel tank all the way to the carb is in order. Those little black pieces came from somewhere. The question is where?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
