Question SGT

A friend has an older Cub which he had taken into the local Cub dealer to get it
running. They did so, but the bill was about $450, a bit more than he wanted to
spend. He offered me the tractor if i paid the bill. There were no visible model numbers on the hood and the side panels were off the tractor. It has an opposed Kohler twin, a category 0 three point hitch and a rear PTO with the internal spline. I did not have a camera, but the serial # is 767760 and the model number is 148720-100 and the mfg date is 1027G. The tractor is in rough
cosmetic condition, but the dealer has serviced it and it does start and run. It does need new tires, and has about a thousand hours. Any idea what model this is, and what it might be worth? Thanks.

Yes it does have a PTO, not sure if it works. It has internal splines unlike a normal PTO with external splines.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Those options alone are worth nearly double the cost of the bill if everything works.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
