A lot of Sales are made on "promises" written in snow, when it melts the're gone.
You get what you pay for.
Don't be blinded with what some slick salespeople sell, promising lifetime warranties, problem free ownership no maintenance ever, instant gratification
Sex that lasts over 4 hours, free beer no interest and a money tree, yada yada.

Make your Gr ma happy by buying a new "wheelbarrow" but keep your
"dump truck" for the real work!
----------or buy commercial quality.
Now if you are just mowing a sitty lot in a subdivision by all means get yourself a little self propelled throwaway MTD or hire a neighbor kid.

Had a Z-Force S54. Mowed like a raped ape. Figured out quickly it was too fast for my rough lawn even with a heavy roller. Deck would not clean for nothing. Hydro units were serviceable. Never had a bagger. Hated it. Bought a 2284 with 60 inch deck. Sold the Z-Force late last winter- thank goodness. Your mileage may vary.....

Do keep us updated on the new machine, I believe that model is one of the heavier duty ones made by Cadet now? I sincerely hope it is a good quality machine, If not what exactly are we going to cut grass with in 30 years? Lets face it, there are plenty of 50 year old machines on here that will eventually have parts availability problems. Seems my newest Cadet is about 27 years old.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
