I am afraid we did. I did not pay for it till we had t on my trailer. I got it for what less than what the deck is worth. We did a test lift and nothing bent so the column is pretty sturdy.

No it isn't. I've seen guys do that time and again.... they all broke the column. I'd be shocked if you didn't. It's nothing more than a piece of exhaust pipe, and that tractor with the deck weighs in at nearly 1000#. I'm sure you broke/bent it. Don't load them like that. It would have been better to pick it up from under the deck than from the column. Or just push it, winch it..... ANYTHING other than lift them by the column.

Not that you see as of yet......
I bought a tractor one time that had been loaded that way in the past. Much smaller tractor.... it was bent. It still worked, but it was bent. |

We did not pick it up by the steering column. We picked it up by the frame of the dash. Sounds like you think we picked it up the steering column itself. I would never do that. I thought it would bent the framework but it did not.

I still wouldn't have done that. Much better ways to load a dead machine. I try not to tear things up, even if they are for parts. A come along takes time, but it works just fine. |

You were not there. That was the best way. Worked great.

No, I obviously wasn't, and it's not my machine. You can do whatever you want with your stuff. I'm just trying to tell you what not to do. If you choose to listen or not, that's your deal. I don't care if you break it, as long as you don't try to sell me (or others) broken parts off of it..... Or come back complaining that you broke something loading it.
Hope you can make it run, or part it out, whichever you choose. You got a good deal. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
