Default 100 trans noise.

Here's a short video of the noise the 100 is making, it only does it in 2nd gear and it popped out of 2nd twice yesterday. I assume the popping out on gear is the detents but have no idea what could be making the noise, any ideas?

I only hear the engine....
Now and again i think i can hear a snap, or click... like a gear trying to disengage, but not popping out. If that is what you hear, it likely has a chipped tooth.

I put headphones on this time. Definitely hear it. Sounds like a chipped tooth. Only does it in second?

Yeah. Chipped tooth on one of the two gears. Probably the sliding gear on top.

Nope, just changed the fluid and painted it. I didn't hear the noise before or I would have fixed it then.

Do you know what tooth 2nd gear is? 16 or 19 tooth?
The early 100-70s had a 16 tooth 2nd gear. The gear sometimes breaks.

If my memory is working right serial number 898xx and lower has a 16 tooth 2nd gear.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
