Need help with 2185 wiring harness
I bit the bullet and let this 2185 find its way on my trailer. At the price I couldn't refuse. It fired right up and ran nice with no smoke or noises and I drove it on the trailer. As you can see the PO had been working on it, he had put a new starter on it and was in the process of trying to get the pto to work, gave up on it and decided to get rid of it. It looks as if he had tried to straight wire the pto and in the process cut some wires and had by passed the safety switches.
What I need is a wiring diagram that is color coded in order for me to try and get the safety switches hooked back and then maybe I can diagnose the problem with the pto and any other issues the tractor has. In my searching of the internet I couldn't find anything of help. Also the hood and side panels are real good shape as is the tractor and deck over all. Any help would be appreciated. Great deal Larry. If Roland doesn't get you one soon I can email you one but it looks like there are 3 different ones depending on the year so I would need your ser# or build date. If you need it, PM me your email address. I don't think I know how to post a PDF file on here.

Looks like the PTO switch controls the negative/ground And the positive is constant to the PTO from the R terminal, also supplies pos to the rev switch that's in series with the coil of the relay. Always cool to see the different variations that are out there. Good luck with it Larry. Nice pick up

I checked out the site Delta suggested and although it does have a wiring diagram it doesn't show the color of the wires and is vague as to where the wires go. I think I can figure out where most should go, but the PO had cut 2 wires that were hanging loose (a blue from the switch and a green from, I cant really tell at this point but am thinking it went to a safety switch that is no longer there). The safety switch on the seat completely gone. I haven't got under the tractor to see if it has been bypassed. But odds are it has.
I'm not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree when it comes to wiring of this stuff, but with some help I will figure it out. Thanks for the help

The schematic I found from Beth's link has all the colors of the wires Larry? Green looks like a ground and blue is the ground path/negative to the PTO coil

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
