Old pic from 1981 me and dads new tractor
Here's a pic from 1981 of me on the bike and dads new 886 hooked on the plow. Think mom is sitting in it holding my sister.

That appears to be an IH hat you have on. Did the dealer give you the hat when he bought the tractor? I got a toy combine from the dealer when my grandmother bought her last combine at the ripe old age of 89 or 90.
I second the comment it looks like a staged photo from an advertising brochure, very nice!

Brian, that pic brings back memories for me. I have a pic somewhere from the same time period of me and my dad standing next to a 986 hooked to a plow that he leased one spring. I wasn't old enough that I can remember, but I have the pic. You're just a little older than I am it would appear. LOL.
Very cool, thanks for the pics! |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
