Prob the one christmas I will never forget is when I was a little guy in 1st grade we moved to Ft. Lauderdale Fl. and i woke up christmas day stuck to thr sheets on my bed because chicken pocks blisters popped and dried!! Had to get in the shower with warm water to get free!! But then was quarantined to my room away from everybody while my 5 brothers and sisters got to hang around tree to open gifts i spent it in my room.
Had that dirty chicken disease so bad that I ended up flunking out of school in first grade for missing so many days and was too far behind to catch up!!

We had a 1969 Mercury snow machine, they didn't call them snowmobiles in those days, it was an un-godly tank like your Johnson.
They rolled, rocked and plowed, so we put spreaders on the skis still didn't help much. My boys ran it into the ground and broke anything they could but it kept running, you couldn't kill the motor. That was in the early 70's. The machines sure have come a long way. this Christmas I might ride the motorcycle as they are predicting *61 here in Michigan, that will be a record for sure! Keep them coming guys. I'm sure everyone has a Christmas memory or two to share...
 I've got another one that I'll never forget. The year was 1979, Christmas Eve. Just left my grandparents with my girlfriend heading to her house where she lived with her parents for another gift opening. Well we had some time before we had to be there, so we stopped off at our sand pit to, (talk  ) After our "discussion" I proceeded to make my way down the trail and I got the van hung up in a dump truck tire rut and buried the it. So, I ended up getting the loader running, and in those days no diesel engines started without ether. Ended up getting half a can on my jacket sleeve. No chain so I had to push the van out, bent up the bumper and broke out the taillight in the process... (loader had no lights that worked) An hour or better after we were supposed to be at her parents we arrive, getting interrogated from her dad as to why I smelt like ether, and why we were late... She got grounded for a week, and I couldn't come over for a week... Never thought "talking" on Christmas Eve could get a kid in so much trouble.

This was one of the best Christmases I've ever had. Mom and Dad got me a pedal tractor at age 5 (I think). I can still remember seeing the irregular shaped package under the tree and opening it up to finding this
 A 86 series IH. My brothers and sister helped me wear it out.  In the winter of 09 (?) I dug it out of the barn and set work on restoring it. New paint, decals, seat, steering wheel, wheels, etc.   I'm proud of the job I did on it and I'm still glad I've got it. I got the parts from C. Burkholder in Onsted MI. (may he and his wife rest in peace.)
