Default Craigslist people?

Well I’m sure any of you guys that happen to buy things from people on craigslist have more than a few stories to tell about your dealings with some really GREAT people, here’s mine from the other day;

For a while now I’ve been looking for a snow blower to fit a Gravely 8123. Not much of that stuff around here so the listings have been few and far between. Last Sunday one came up. Not far from me so I jumped on it. So there we were, Monday night, out in this guy’s back field in the dark loading it up in my trailer. Money had already changed hands and “yup, yup, all the parts are here”,… until they weren’t…. “ I know it’s here some where!”

So there we were. I looked him in the eye and said, “So you’re gonna get me that part,… right?” and offered my hand. He shook it and said “yup”. I gave him my address and I left.

From talking to his brother in that field before we struck a deal it turns out the guy is in the middle of a divorce. Something about” you’ve got this Gravely disease, and I can’t stand it any more!” or something like that so the guy has stuff all over the place, his mother’s, his uncle’s, his brother’s, his ex wife’s…..

3am I got up for work and sent the guy a text. “Thanks Steve, I really appreciate it.” The part was on my front porch.

Glad to hear a good ending craigslist story for a change.

There really are some good people left out there, sometimes you gotta look for awhile before you find them, but they are out there.

I know a guy that lives in Ohio that is a big IH guy... (I'm not referring to merk) he is the same way. I met the guy at his plow day this past September. I spoke with him for about 2 min and he had a row of tractors sitting there- he asked my brother and me if we would go gas a couple of them up at the fuel station down the road. He gave us some $$ and off we went. (mind you his stuff is SUPER nice). I had spoken to this guy for less than 5 minutes and he trusted me to take off on his M and fuel it up.

After some BSing, we went off plowing. I didn't have my own tractor to use, so he let me plow with his Super MTA- D w 3 bottom 60 plow ALL DAY. I asked to drive it a few rounds and didn't have to give up the seat till there wasn't any ground left. I found out later that it is his favorite tractor.

My brother lost a pin for the hitch of his little genius #8 plow during the event, and he offered us his barn/tools for whatever we needed it "my barn is your barn." When he discovered we needed a pin, he points to one of his extra plows and says "there's one!" and let my brother take it so he could finish plowing (and then home) completely comprising the fact that he could no longer use his plow.

I was completely floored by how nice his stuff was, and how his generosity towards others is. He just kept offering stuff to my brother and I.

Sorry if I hijacked your thread. I was just trying to relate a similar type of story.

I have yet to meet a bad IH person. I'm from the IH truck world and am new to the garden tractor scene, but so far all these IH crazy people are plumb nice!

Let's keep it up.

Glad your Craigslist deal came out good! Most times they don't. Any IH guy I've met are good guys too.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
