Yes, just drain the oil and pull the seals.

Here is the correct oil for the transmission. If I remember correctly you will need 7 quarts but check the specs.

I now use Rotella 15W40 engine oil in the rear and a Wix 51410 filter and so do a lot of other people without any issues.

Does you deck have the rear rollers or are they missing?

Here's another deck post for you.

I would probably change the front pto belts too. There is a grease fitting down where the axle pivot is that is the bearings for the pto, make sure and keep those greased.

Looks like you are doing a good job so far.

Looks like your tractor was born on June 7th of 2002 from the serial number.

Thanks very much for all you help and info Oak, much appreciated !!

Jonathan, thanks.

Anyway, just getting started on restoring this 3206 to like new condition but will be using it a lot around the property. And thanks for the born on date, I've been very curious about that. I did find that zerk fitting under the front axle the other night and pumped some grease in that too.

Now I have to find all the decals to go on after paint.

My best to you all !

Oak, the rollers are missing. One bracket on the right side remains but that's all. If all the rollers are for is striping I'll not worry about it. I was however thinking of adding brackets and casters to the rear, identical to the front casters. But if you don't think it's needed I won't. (?)

OK, I'll replace the PTO belts too. THANKS !!

That mower deck is designed to ride on the 2 front casters and rear roller. Your tractor does have the height adjustment knob on the floor pan so you may be able to keep it suspended, IDK.

Right, in fact, the deck level adjust shaft was froze up. Some Liquid Wrench and Mapp torch heat and it's working perfectly now. I'll see how it does while looking for the roller parts. Your roller mod is cool

How much gear oil goes in the shaft drive box ? Level with the drain hole ?

Here's my motor tag. I see the notice referring to 2004 and 2006, the 3206 is 2002, is the motor newer ?

The pic was vertical, after uploading it turned sideways. Just like the pic of the hour meter turned upside down.

OK, I've stripped all 3 spindle housings and cleaned them up. Pressed in a new zerk fitting as one was missing in the center spindle shaft and I pumped fresh grease through the spindle shafts to "prime" them with clean grease. I've ordered the bearing sets and the oil seals.

I removed the cover plate off the right angle drive, the oil was of course dark black but no sludge or gunk. Reinstalled the cover plate and filled to top of drain plug with 80-90 gear oil. Also pumped in fresh grease to the universal joints on the deck shaft. That pushed out some bad looking old grease.

Ordered 2 new axle seals too.

Before any of this, I had changed the engine oil and oil filter, air and pre filters as well as a new fuel filter. Changed out the spark plugs too.

I think while waiting for bearings and seals to arrive, I'll remove cooling baffles on the engine and make sure the cooling fins are all clear and clean.

Thanks again Oak for providing all the part numbers and links !!

You are welcome.

Don't tell anyone how nice that machine is to mow with. We don't need the prices going through the roof.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
