Coerced my brother to weld the A-frame after I straightening the one side. Was able to rattle some color on it last evening. Hoping to get the back of the blade area cleaned up and painted today. Then onto drilling holes for the new cutting edge. Still not sure how I am going to keep the cutting edge from rolling under from hard use.

Lookin' good Steve! I hate to say it, but given the chill in the air this morning, it won't be long before you're going to need it. After all, we do live in NY!

Doc, I had 44 degrees this morning@ 0530! Dew so thick I thought it rained. As late as crops are, sure hope we don't get an early frost.

Rattlecan Steve at it again. I cleaned off any loose paint and scale with wire cup on the 4.5 inch grinder. Then bombs away.

Found some knurled style carriage bolts. I can't drill a square hole. I set about measuring to get the new cutting edge semi square. It is a 1/4 inch thick x 4 inch wide piece of steel. A little beefy'r than original cutting edge. Once I was satisified I drilled the holes, took it back off and rattle bombed it. Huh, guess I did not take a picture of the cutting edge wearing black..... Getting closer.

Also decided to rebuild the two hydraulic valves on the 2182. While mowing with it the deck settled quickly. Got those rebuilt last night and put it all back together this morning. Had to remove radiator to get to them. Sucks to have to put it all back together to try them. I hope I did each valve correctly. Would be a big let down to have to tear it all apart again.
Also swapped out that mangled up hammer strap hitch previous owner mess with a different cover and hitch.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
