Default Snow blower

This is for sale in Michigan, kinda far away... looks like a 450 to me, seller says it's a 451... looks like the original paint also. Did the 451's come from the factory painted white? I'm looking for the 450 and so far I've stayed away from this one because of what the seller says is a 451. I've asked for more pics. Hopefully I'll be able to determine the obvious. Thanks!

The the differences in the 450 & 451 snowblowers is the "gearing ratio". The 450 is suitable for the 4.25" PTO, while the 451 is suitable for the 6.00" PTO.

In the Ad, owner states it came off a 1862. The early 1862's used the 450 Blower and the later 1862's used the 451 Blower.

I don't think that the seller knows for sure what he has... he said his manual says a 450/451. I think my next plan of action will be to get the serial #from his tractor and then go from there...

The only true way to make sure what it is and I quote this info from TS on another site.

"For the 450 it will be 1.87 turns of the input pulley to make one complete turn of the fan."
"For the 451 it will be 2.58 turns of the input pulley to make one complete turn of the fan."

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
