Default B&S 11hp disaster
Hey guys. I just picked up a B&S 11hp vertical shaft engine for free. It's in a bunch of pieces, all parts are accounted for. The cylinder wall has some pretty rough gouging. It's too darn cold to get an accurate reading on a bore, and I'm wondering if it would even be worth fixing. Can this engine be sleeved? I'm not sure if that's even a term, reboring may seem out of the ?. I'd love to put this engine back in service, I'm eyeballing an 1100 with all the bells and whistles, blower, front plow, tiller. Not sure if all these even go on this tractor, but the price is right. It's really cold out here, I need an inside project for the rest of this winter. Thanks.

The 1100 cub cadet has a horizontal shaft briggs.

Broke and scattered's are never worth saving IMHO. B&S are cheap when they're new. If you want to save a old engine, get a Kohler.
