Welcome! Another Fort Worth Cub owner here. You're right about cubs being much less common out here, and more expensive too. But thanks to the Internet and a handful of large salvage yards up north, you should be able to get what you need. This site is a great resource.

Congrats on your score! What better Cub to start with than the one that started it all. You seem to have been lucky enough to pick up a 61 which was their first year of production. I reccomend looking to see what your serial number is so you can see how early it is. It will be on the right front side of the transmission above a drain plug. Here's where it will be.

You are so right.I travel through Tx alot and I can honestly say I have never seen one of the old Cub Cadets.I just figured maybe CC left that area to a competitor such as JD or Case,Wheel Horse or something alone those lines.Anyways welcome to OCC there are a ton of great folks on here.

I worked in Houston 1980-1986 and I don't remember that IH had much presence in SE Texas neither cubs nor the full size Farmalls. Ford tractors were fairly popular in the under 100 HP class.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
