Default Getting the 800 ready for grass cutting!

Hey guys,
I am getting ready to put the deck on the 800, I want to put something on the bottom of the deck to protect it, what should I use , primer, paint, or undercoating? Thanks.

When it's rusty like that I like to brush on rust converter. It chemically changes the rust into a black hard coating that you can paint over. I can't remember the name of it. You can leave just the converter or follow up with primer and paint, I've done both with similar results. Next spring...repeat, nothing lasts long under there.

Ok, I have already started to prep it, would the hardware store have that rust converter?

You could try POR-15 or Chassis Saver Nick.

I'm pretty sure they will, tractor supply has Rust Kutter brand, HD, Ace, and lowes should have it as well. It's a liquid in a bottle, not an aerosol. I believe it's basically phosphoric acid. I don't remember the brand I used, someone gave it to me but it worked well.

Guys,
My local hardware store had a little bottle of rust converter for $10.99, didn't want to pay that, so sitting right next to it was the same stuff in a spray can for $5.99, so I got that and the deck and blades came out good.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
