Default Snow Blade Question
I recently acquired a Model 316 snow blade for my 149. It is missing the lockout bar, p/n 703-0671. The lift arm has a curved, slotted opening where the lift rod attaches. My questions: Why the slotted opening in the lift arm when other models have a single hole for the lift rod? Under what circumstances would be lockout bar be necessary?

The 190-316-100 is a adapting package, designed to fit the following Cub Cadet tractors: 1440, 1641, 1861, 1862, 1863, & 1864 aka the Cyclops series. These tractors were 1992 & newer.

The Cub Cadet Parts Lookup site shows what you are referencing. As an educated guess, since I am not familiar with this package would be, that normally one would want this dozer blade to "float". By installing the 703-0671 Locking Bar, you are able to apply downward pressure on the blade instead of float.

I'm going to add to what Roland said by saying that I have found on my manual lift machines, I prefer that lifting package because it allows the blade to float and I don't have to run a float lock out on my lift lever. With a spring assist, I like being able to lock it, and let the blade float.
