Are we allowed to submit multiple pictures? I can't really narrow it down to one of mine...

Matt,
Yes you can submit multiple pictures. Just give info for each one. And "family" pictures are okay also - again, info for each model in the picture (unless the picture includes too many to list). |

Let me start by saying thanks for picking my picture as this weeks "picture of the week". Now for a little history on my tractor and cart. My tractor was bought new in 1984 by my brother-in-laws dad. He owned it till my brother-in-law bought it from him in 1997. My dad bought this tractor from him in 2000 and used it to bag leaves in the fall till 2007 when he bought his new cub zero turn and parked the 1282 thinking he would need it someday. I tried and tried and tried to get him to sell this tractor to me for 3 years with his answer always being "I might need that someday I better hold on to it". I would always say, "if you need it you can have it back." Well one day I get a phone call from dad, and he says do you still want that old tractor in the garage, Of course my answer was yes. He says if you want it come and get it I'm tired of tripping over it, my responce was I'm on my way. 20 mins. later it was in the back of my truck and headed home. I did a tune up, Had to fix the loose motor mounts, put new tires on, and put a little fresh paint on th e wheels and deck. Since then I change the spindle's to 3/4" and put narrow fronts on just for the look, but I must say it sure steers nice with the narrow tires on there. Other rhan that it's all original. The paint is far from perfect but is still very nice for being 26 years old.
Now for the cart, I get a call one day from a guy over in OH that I have bought some parts from for my "O". He and his brother and a friend are into pulling and are always buying cubs and taking part's off them to turn them into mini pullers. He says that his brother bought a couple modle 70's last night from a farmer and he had to take every thing in the barn for tractors with the tractors if he wanted them. Well he boght them and hulled them home with a bunch of stuff he didn't want, tells me there are a couple decks and hoods and a bunch of other stuff, but if I'm not there by noon he's hulling it all to the dump so I better hurry if want any of it. I jump in my truck and head over there to see what he has. I pull in and there are 2 really nice decks, a nice hood from a 100, two nice rear wheels with very nice original 6-12 tires and few other little parts sitting in a "#2 cart" rough but all there. I said what do you want for all of it and he looks at me and says didn't my brother tell you I was going to take it to the dump if you didn't want it, I said yea but he didn't say how much, He gets this funny look on his face and says If you want it it's yours, just get it out of here and you just saved me a trip to scrap yard. Ok I said I will get it loaded. can't beat a free cart and the extras were all in very nice shape. As far as the mods. all I did was make a new axle that's a little more than 6"s longer, and I had to collar the 3/4" axle to 1" so I could put the wide wheels and 16x6.50x8 ag tires on. The paint is standard IH red and the decals are home made. I hand cut the cub cadet and the number 2 lettering. All in all it turned out pretty good. Thanks again for picking my picture and I hope you all enjoyed hearing the history of my Cub as much as I enjoy reading about yours. Eric

Still a sweet looking unit! Love the matching trailer with the ag's on it. Definately one of MANY tractors here that qualifies for Picture of the Week! Make sure you shine that tractor and trailer up monthly or we all may just have to find a new home for it!! :biggrin2.gif: |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
