Johnson Loader 10 tc manual request
A couple weeks ago I got what I think is a Johnson "Workhorse" Loader model 10 TC and have looked for a manual for it since. There are no numbers or stickers I can read on it. I downloaded one copy from several places but a few pages are not legible on them all. It wants a little TLC but works ok. Anyone have a copy or know of one they can send?

Just curious what you need a manual for? It's a loader..... basic knowledge of hydraulics, and levers and that's about all you need. Don't know that any parts are available for it, and I've never seen a service manual. You may be able to find an owners manual, but that will pretty much tell you how to mount it, tighten the belt, and where to put the oil.......

Well..... I understand I suppose. Just for the record, I don't run hy-tran in my cubs, but we won't get into that debate. (Point is, I'm not sure you really made a mistake. )
Anyway.... As long as the reservoir on the machine is relatively full, like as in: with all cylinders collapsed, you can take the cap off and see oil near the top, it's full. As far as the filter, the old one should have a number on it that you can match up. If not, you can have it matched by size. (A parts store can help you with that.) Cylinder rebuilding is not really very hard, but if you have a hydraulic shop nearby it helps. They should be able to get you the kit you need. Honestly, when a customer brings a cylinder to me to rebuild, it doesn't take that long unless it's just completely shot. Probably wouldn't really cost that much to just pay them to do it. (I rebuilt one the other day in less than an hour, if that helps you understand.) Someone may have some info tucked away out there..... but honestly I doubt it. Back in my dealership days, I never saw a service manual for any loader. Parts and owners manuals is all I saw. I'm sure they probably exist.... but not likely. Honestly, your best bet is to just ask any questions here. I'm sure we can answer them. |

The filter is some sort of screen. It sounds like I'll just have to clean the screen as long as it's undamaged. I've checked out cylinders being rebuilt (youtube) and am quite confident I can change a seal if it's like what I saw. Not different than other stuff I've done. This part of a manual is useful info for me. I don't know if it's a service or opperators manual. I'm hopeful I could find the whole thing. This site is fantastic and you really seem to know a lot in this arena but I don't want to bother anyone with dumb questions either, expecially without doing what I can on my own first. I think you are right and I won't be able to find a manual for it. When I get into it I will be posting my questions. Thank you for your patience.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
