Got a chance to look at the mower today, first I cut off the belt, wrong size anyway, put some fresh oil in it,and down the plug hole, checked for spark, pull start rope broke.
New rope, pulled and have spark, but no compression, pulled head, stuck intake valve, removed and cleaned valve, now waiting for gaskets,a better tank, and carb kit to arrive. Pics tomorrow. ..

I put a tank and carb off another Clinton engine I have on a tiller.Pulled a few times and...It lives !!!
But has a bad smoking problem.Oil comes out the muffler when you can see it Too bad, rebuilding it will be a few bucks, plus finding all the right parts. I have a lead on a new 70's briggs 2HP motor that is new for $100 and will go that route instead, being I only have 20.00 in it so far.

I know it's not old school but would one of those Harbor Freight Chondas work?

I like the look of the one on there but The briggs will do the job,I may have to add some more weight to it being the cast iron vs. the aluminum, maybe keeps the mower from jumping around heheheh
This is new.

Just my 2 cents but unless you actually plan on running it I'd leave it alone, it has a serious "Cool factor" with the old Clinton and it runs, just not good.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
