Question 50 inch deck

Recently repowered my 1440 (143-633-100) with an 18 hp Vanguard. Hoping to swing a bigger deck, found a 50" deck,(model 359-190), that fit right up. Appears as if the original drive belt for my OEM 42" deck is too long for the 50" deck. Haven't been able to find what the correct length of belt should be. Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know these tractors all had the small PTO. Your probably going to have to figure this one out on your own. Do the old rope cut to length then off to TSC, buy a few that are close and return what doesn't fit. You may also find that it's turning too fast because you have the larger PTO.

Yea, i was thinking about the rope thing. I didn't realize that the PTO were different. I did notice that the pulley on the 50" is about an inch smaller in diameter. That would make it turn faster too wouldn't it? May have to look at a new pulley. Thanks for the info.

They don't make a pulley to run with that PTO for that deck. You'll have to make one. Or find another application that will work.

Why not just buy a 54" deck that fits that tractor??

Found this one at the local yard. Almost new blades, clean underneath and the spindles ran smooth, all for $75. Haven't seen a 54" blade anywhere around here. Shouldn't be too difficult to find a pulley that will work

I just went and looked. It appears as though the pulley for the proper deck for that tractor will fit the 50C deck. Order a 756-3055 pulley and bolt it on. Should be golden. If you still have the deck that came on it, even better.

I honestly didn't know they used the same spindles.

Let us know if it does/doesn't work.

From the parts book, everything looks right.

Well, i looked at the pulley on the 42" deck, and it is very different from the one on the 50".
42" pulley is about 2 1/2 " taller than the 50". I am going to pull the 50" pulley and get some measurements. Thanks again for all of your suggestions.

Post some pics. I may have looked at a different deck. I just picked one that fit the tractor because I didn't know what deck you had.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
