Cub Cadet Quietline series ??
Hi I have the opportunity to buy either CC 1250 or 1450 on CL but I’m a little leary of the QL series. Isn’t there issues with the rubber iso engine mounts and if so Is There a way to remove/replace those mounts? I’ve researched but haven’t found a clear answer. I’ve read about checking the mounts when I’m checking out the tractor (before I buy). But honestly if I bought a QL I would just like to remove those mounts. Thanks!

You can replace the rubber mounts with solid mounts, member Jeff in PA makes them.

On the hydro models, I do recommend the replacement rubber mounts from Cub. They are pricey but will last quite a while (they are stiffer than OEM) and if properly installed they do help isolate most of the vibration.
They key here is "if properly installed". I've found the rubber mounts from Cub help with vibration the most when the rebound top mount is just barely snugged up against the upper washer. You'll find people who support the solid mounts as well. I like the challenge personally of getting the QuietLine models to be some real smooth runners, as they can be with some patience if the rubber mounts are used.

Don't be leary of the quite line. It is a great tractor. If it needs the mounts replaced, Be sure to do the cradle mod., if it hasn't already been done. It isn't that tough of a job to do. There are lots of post here to talk you through it. When the mounts are tuned in right it will be smooth as silk.

I've got four QLs, and replaced the iso mounts in each of them. Also did the cradle mod. They all vibrate less than their narrow or wide frame counterparts.

If you have read all the posts following your original question, I can only add that they are all giving you good advice. What comes into play here is your " aptitude", "ability" and "attitude".
What that means is APTITUDE - Do you have the mechanical understanding to interpret the answers to the questions that you ask.....and if you do, ABILITY - are you capable of performing the tasks that are recommended.....and finally, ATTITUDE - are you really looking to get the job done right or just looking for an easy way out? No offense intended, but many folks ask questions and when they don't get the answer that they want to hear the thread goes dead and they never respond again. Hopefully you will stick it out with us and we will help you. Just keep in mind that a lot of people here have done things both ways, some have gone solid mounts, some restored soft mounts, some pleased with the outcome of what they did, and some not. But the final decision is yours and when you have made your choice and have completed your task we hope you will share your results with us and anyone who has the same question in the future. |

Cradle mod
Can someone point me to the cradle mod information? I just recently acquired the model 1000.
Thanks.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
