Default Hydraulics for the 1000

Have a solid 1000, that I'd like to put hydraulic lift and steering on come Spring. Couple ideas I'm tossing around.
1. Small automotive p.s. pump With external reservoir, driven off the current clutch pulley.
2. Lovejoy/shaft driven off front of engine.

Thoughts, suggestions?

What are your plans for the tractor? Will you need a PTO? If you don't need a PTO I would drive it off the front of the crank.

Thought a little update might be in order.

Since last post we moved to town for health and other reasons, and have no yard/garden duties. So the 1000 is sitting in a open shed by the house. Been debating whether to sell it or break down and refurbish it with a few maintaince issues and paint. I'm leaning toward selling, due to cost and failing health. Sure hate to see it go. Waited a long time to get something like it. When I decide, I'll post here.

Default cub 1000

Steve, hope your health improves so that you can work on your Cub 1000. Tinkering with my tractors sure helps keep me going. Good luck and have a great day.

Thanks, Bob.
What energy I can muster, is used in my small wood works shop. Trying to get some last chance keepsake boxes made, for the many family ladies, in my life.
Old man with weak ticker don't really expect too much, just thankful for what I have. Having a good time, what ever is left. It's all good!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
