Another 169 redo
I got this 169 in the summer of 2015 not running. Owner said he went to start it, it popped off, backed fired, and died. It would not restart. He said it was seized.
So I finally did some investigating, I got the motor out. I removed the pan and checked the balance gears all were good. Then removed the flywheel checked for a mouse nest, no issue found there either. Then I removed the head and found that the PO had left the the spark plug off and put side at that. Now the piston is seized. I sprayed some blaster around the piston, loosened it up and remove it. Though did be able to save it but, after bonding it out and still being able to catch my finger nail on it, is not going to work. Looks like an over haul to the engine is required. Pics to come

Wow that's terrible, auto correct on my phone is to blame and me for not proof reading.
"The previous owner left the spark plug out and water had gotten in." "Thought I would be able to save it. After honing it out found was not going to be able too. Had to much rust where the rings contacted the cylinder." Thanks for pointing that out

Another issue I had with this thing was marking its territory all over my shop, so I drained the hytrans and remove the assembly from the tractor. Then removed the hydro from the diff found the for my seal all wet and a bolt missing from the hydro case.
I'm going to remove the trans assembly from a parts 149 and I think I'm going to use that hydro but the diff from the 169, then I'll transfer over hydralic lift too.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
