The spindle isn't the problem. Spindle bearings are the problem.

Ive had an O... and pretty much one of every other type of Cub Cadet, somebody else can do whatever they like but I still wouldnt put a loader on an O, they are well known to have cracks in the frame where the transaxle bolts on.... just asking for trouble ... IMO

Sure its hard on 40+ year old bearings, put in new bearings and shim them properly they will outlast the operator.

95660.jpg To the OP, Hope we have not offended you by getting into a loader on a Cub Cadet discussion, Good luck with finding one or if so inclined get a set of plans and build it. After you have one you will wonder how you ever got along with out it. Good luck Tom |

The OCC on the pic belongs to a member here by the name of Keith LeJeune. The Danco on OCC's only have lift pressure and no down pressure. The are a trip bucket only. Probably why the OCC's have survived as well as they did. They are OK, but a more modern loader will be much handier. Randy

They do one of 2 things-Upgrade the spindle or keep an extra set(s) of bearings handy. Does Ford use the same bearing set up like Cub Cadet???

Geeze... stepped on a few toes did I or what????
You want to put a fn loader on an Original.... go right ahead. Its a small tractor with known frame issues and its over 50 years old.... common fn sense should tell you that it isnt the best idea. I buy/sell a few tractors.... 25-30 per year for 6 years now... Ive had at least 7 garden tractors with loaders... and before that I spent 25 years in metal fabrication.... and before that I worked in Farm Equipment dealerships.... if you dont like my opinion thats your choice... stop quoting me and I wont give it to ya...Simple. Anyone need a load of crap.... seems I have extra...

Any idea what color the embossed DANCO logo on the cross brace between the lift arms should be?

Mines blue, but don't know if that's original or not as PO restored and painted it, got a big bucket though !I think that was the yard bucket for leaves ,grass, sticks etc. I know you don't want more than about a half bucket of stone in it !

Looks good!
Blue or black would look good either way. I was thinking maybe the gray that Case/IH used on their current skid steers, Mine has a much smaller bucket. Yours must be for snow etc. Will probably make one for mine someday if I can't find one. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
