Default I need help with my deck!
I have a 1450 I just got. From what I can tell I have a 50" deck. I am trying to figure out what belt I need. What is the difference between a 50" deck and a 50A Deck? They require two different belts. I also bought a 105 that had a 490489R2 belt that I thought went on it but when I look at the chart the 490489R2 goes to a 50A deck. SO I am thinking maybe I got confused and the belt actually went to the 50" deck so I would have a 50A deck. I am so confussed. I put the 490489R2 belt on the 1450 50" deck and it fits in the pulley and spindles well. It is a little loose but I think that is because it is fully lowered to give you room to put the belt on?

Another stupid question. I have a newer mower that I can lower and raise the deck with out engaging the blades. On my 1450 I cannot figure out if you can do that. It looks like when you start the tractor and turn on the PTO it is going to start the blades. So the only way to lower and raise the deck is if the blades are moving. Is this correct?

You have to have the tractor running to raise/lower the deck, but it doesn't have to be on. The hydraulics don't have anything whatsoever to do with the electric PTO.

I recommend you download the owner's manual for that 1450. If gives you alot of info. Like matt said lowering/raising the deck has nothing to do with whether the pto is on can shouldn't have any affect on it. If your belt seems loose there's an adjustment at the front of the tractor on the mule drive.
