I also would have a hard time using it now since it looks so nice. Great job.

Thanks for the nice complements guys. I have learned much just reading all of your posts (yes, I read everything daily) and take mental notes. You all are the experts, I'm just a greenhorn that pays attention. I like "saving" this equipment.
Around here (CT/MA/VT/NH/ME/Albany) via C/L, you don't see any completely restored IH carts so I can't say what their value would be. For those unrestored, as few as there are (I have only viewed one - mine was not listed) a #3 cart was listed for $100 as just a "nondescript" cart - and it was in mediocre shape. The gentleman who sold me the cart did not realize the value of what he had (he was selling his property and acreage). He purchased it from an IH AG dealer in 1976 for $169. I gave him more than he asked for. I felt uneasy because he was practically giving it away. So everybody was happy. I suspect a #4 in mediocre shape around here would go for $150-$200 if they did not know it was an in demand piece and probably $200-$300 if they did. Restored? Maybe $450+? They are very robust (heavy) and nothing today even comes close. It will go back to work next week hauling firewood to earn its keep. Next up, a 682 that I can hopefully find on C/L. Doc |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
