Default QA42 just pushing snow around

Never had this issue before, everything is spinning as it should, but the snow is just piling up in front of the thrower and wont feed in. The chute isn't clogged and the auger is spinning, the snow won't go into the thrower at all.

I'm guessing it probably has something to do with the type of snow? Today we are getting heavy, wet snow.

I can't say I've ever heard of that. I know those QA's can be finicky when it comes to feeding snow. Not enough, it doesn't work well. Too much, it doesn't take kindly to that, either. Try a little quicker speed?

Had that a lot last year with our snow in KC. Also taught my son (12 now) to ease into things. Can't do that with some types of snow and a QA42. Need to be at speed on "hitting" the snow. Also had to run a lot faster ground speed than we liked to keep it feeding. If any snow stopped in front of the blower it became a blade. Would firm up at the auger and take even more of a "hit to get it to feed. As others have said with a snowthrower, as fast and you can go without bogging down the motor.

Only about 2-3 inches of wet snow right now. I've tried slow, fast, etc today, no luck. The engagement for my PTO clutch is broken, so the thrower spins all the time, which wasn't a problem last year. Had no issues throwing over a foot of snow last year when I got the belt issues worked out.

If the thrower gets really full and jams up I've seen the clutch slip before, but usually it will just burn the belt off. The clutch and PTO engagement are on my high list of things to fix soon, are they readily available?

It's a 147 Hydro. Like I said, usually the clutch doesn't slip and its not an issue, just has to spin the thrower all the time (when trying to start, etc). Today the issue doesn't seem to be a plugging issue, the snow literally won't feed into the thrower at all. It's crazy, the auger is there spinning against the pile of snow, it just won't grab and feed in.

Is there any possibility that it is running backwards. My old 36 never had that problem as I recall.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
