Default 2182

I recently purchased a 1995 2182 Cub Cadet with a snow blower, a mower deck, chains, and weights. My problem is, the belt on the snow blower keeps coming off and is flipping over on the pulley on the snow blower itself. Is this normal? Also the power steering is not really power steering. Could that be a bad RAM or is there a reservoir for the power steering fluid? It also came with a cab.

Thanks John

Buy a new (and proper) belt for the snow blower.

The reservoir is the "rear end". Make sure you have the proper fluid level first. If that is good, then I would suggest changing the Hydraulic Filter.

Take a look at the Technical Library section of this forum for the manual on your blower, it should show you the proper installation of the blower belt, it should be right side up in all the pulleys.

Could be a 450 or 451 blower depending on the serial number of the tractor. Make sure the tension pulley and the tension spring are in their proper position. The manual will show you this too. The fluid for your power steering is the same fluid for the hydro drive and hydraulic lift, it can be checked with the dipstick for the hydro system under the seat. Where is the "growling" coming from, the power steering cylinder or the hydro pump? Welcome to the forum! Congrats on the Cub.

Not sure on where the growling is coming fromI'm thinking it's in the pump I've got a filter and some new hydraulic oil to change that in the rear end this weekend I bought a new belt also to put on the snow blower and put that on the right way and see if that works other than that the tractor runs good I did get a gasket set for the carburetor they don't sell a complete set repair kit but I'm going to rebuild what I can in the carburetor see if that helps it run a little better also. Thanks for the responses. One of my local small engine parts stores told me it was unlikely that the steering cylinder is bad. He said he rarely has seen them go bad but I think I trust guys that have owned them more

You may find some of this worthwhile.

Strange thing happened when I got home last night. I started the tractor to put it in the garage so I can change the hydraulic oil today and I have no hydraulics at all and no growling either. Any ideas?

Unhappy 1995 2182

A strange thing happened last night when I got home from work. I started the tractor to put it in the garage so I could change the hydraulic oil and filter and I have no hydraulics at all and the growling I had last week when I parked it there is gone. Is there a belt that drives the hydraulics?

Pump is shaft drive on a 2182. If it was outside I'm wondering if you have enough water in the oil to have frozen in the filter. I'd suggest that you push it inside and warm it up and see what happens.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
