Default Cub wheel weights?

Just something I've been pondering, why do you think IH never made a decent wheel weight for the cub cadets? I do own some ih weights but they're a joke compared to others as far as I'm concerned. They do look good but at a measly 26#s they don't compare to the 50-60 pound weights that some of the others had. My 162 has JD 62#s with 30#s of barbell weights behind them. It wouldn't be hard to fit 100#s of cast in the rims without sticking out very far. So why didn't that do it?

It may have been a marketing concept. Think about it, the IH weights fit on either the inside or the outside or BOTH, unlike the other wheel weights. So, if you wanted more weight, you could purchase 2 sets of IH wheel weights, one pair for the inside of the rims and one pair for the outside. Or, they may have thought that the wheel weights would be used in conjunction with the weight box and boost sales of both.

I was thinking that since the weights were originally made for the Farmall Cubs, but also fit the Cadets, plus they are stackable and you could put them inside and out on the wheels (as Cub Cadet 123 said) (except for the disk brake tractors) management probably thought "why bother with a new design of weights".

If someone thought they needed more weight they could easily put 3 or 4 on each wheel. And at the time they were what, about $11.00 a pair?

I do agree that 26# is pretty wimpy and I do like some of the other brand weights that are heavier yet fit more inside the wheel.

They look better than those that go on the front of a letter series tractor, even if they could be heavier. I like em and they seem to work
