rebuilding k301as for 123
hi guys iam am waiting on the crank to come back from being turned i have a choice on 2 blocks one that the conecting rod broke on are a used block that will need a possible bore job done on which way would you go

Best to bore the block regardless. Only way to get a good, true cylinder. Get the oversize piston and rings. Cost to bore block and regrind valve seats should be about $200 at your local NAPA shop. Plus the rod, piston, rings, valves and gasket set at about $110 and you've got a new engine.

You need to bore it either way. Building an engine without boring it is just a hack job that won't last. Sometimes when the connecting rod breaks it takes a chunk out of the bottom of the cylinder and if the chunk is big enough then the block is junk so make sure you check the blocks really good before buying one.

Either one will need bored. Doesn't matter.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
