Default Cyclone rake Classic vs DR Pilot rake?

Does anyone have any experience with these 2 units? Ironically they are the same price right now and are very similar in design, function and size. It seems like there are more Cyclone rakes out there than the DR unit. I think the DR Pilot is a newer model made to compete with the Cyclone Classic model. My concern is mounting it to my 1250. The DR uses a standard pin design as where the Cyclone uses a plate design and makes the whole unit rigid. Also the Cyclone has a 3 year warranty vs DR's 2 year. Cyclone used Briggs motors and DR has something made for them. Any input would help me I'm my decision

Thumbs up Cyclone Rake

I've had a Cyclone rake for about 7 years now. We have about 2 acres of woods and have had no problems keeping up with it. When I first bought it I was using it on a C.C. 72. Now switched to the 147. It is a very thought out design and came with everything to install it except the drill. I would with out a doubt recommend the Cyclone rake very highly. You might check with them and see if someone in your area has one. I have had people contact me in my area to see how I liked it. They are a really good company to deal with. Hope this helps!!

I purchased the Cyclone Rake as I preferred the idea of a Vangaurd over the DR's no name engine. Check out my thread for a slightly different way of attaching it to the 1250.

We have a cyclone rake we have attached to a 1450. Works great. My brother had a custom hitch made for it. I will try and post pictures. Twoton helped us a lot when we were trying to prepare the 1450. Look up his thread.

Thanks for your input. Seems like the general consensus likes the Cyclone Rake. I'm more comfortable with the Briggs motor too..if you could post some pictures of the hitch area that would help me. Thanks!!

It will be the end of the week before I can get the pictures. I have that tractor and rake at my mother's which is a 100 miles from me. I thought I had pictures in my phone but I could not find them. I go to her house about every week to mow and clean up the yard. I will take them then.

Twoton, I like your idea on the hitch mounting. You need to make a few of these so I can have one👍👍

CSXengr I found your pictures on your post. That looks like the stock piece they send you.
Thank you for all the replies so far. Just need to make my decision and bite the bullet

Default Update

This an update on this thread. I finally got pictures of how my brother and I made a custom hitch for the 1450 to attach a cyclone rake. We removed the standard hitch and made this hitch to replace it. We used bolts the same length as those holding the standard hitch to the transmission. Hope this helps. This setup works great.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
