Steve, the Roloc bristle disks work very well without removing any significant metal. They are expensive too! I prefer the smaller ones but the local tool supplier only had the big ones.

I remember the same feelings you had at the IH dealership.. The first ones I remember seeing new were the Red 82 series.. I too fell in love! We already had a 1450 at home.. dad said we had to wear out the 1450 before we could get a 782! 40 years later we still have the same 1450! I grew up on it and have a soft spot for the Quietlines! Keep us posted.. I enjoy following your builds!

Looks great Beth!
I don't use anything but the bristle discs. Not only do they not wear off metal, if any of the rubber particles get left inside, they aren't as likely to cause issues like grit from an abrasive disc WILL cause damage. They aren't cheap though, that is true..... but if used properly they last a very long time. I can rebuild a big diesel motor and only completely use up one disc. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
