Only a educated guess:
"B" section belt measures approx. 5/8" across the top of the belt.
so "B" would be the section width and "k" possibly stands for Kevlar.
oh and a number would be the length, but there are several ways to describe length.
and it is a bit confusing to the unexperienced but I can explain it if you really want to know.

Alright, I got that part now. I thought someone was recommending a brand name belt at some retail outlet.

Do Tractor Supply belts work for running on back side idlers on mower decks and wrapping around CC mule drives?

it's an industry identification.
The B means it's a 5/8" wide belt (at the top)
If it has a K after the B it means it contains kevlar (more durable), some manufactures put the K at the end
the number after the B indicates the length in inches of the outside of the belt. since it's a vbelt, the top length will be longer than the length on the bottom.
now here it gets a little tricky depending on what width v-belt you're dealing with: we'll use the belt i inquired about; cub says it supposed to be a 107.8", we'll round that up to 108" (the.2" difference will be made up by the tensioner). for a B size (5/8" width) v-belt you have to subtract 3 from the actual length of the belt to get the right number. so for this one it would be a B105.
Now if you're dealing with a 1/2" wide belt (that would be an A size), you subtract 2 to get the right number (e.g. a 58" outside length 1/2" wide v-belt would be an A56 belt).
Just remember: 5/8" wide belt=B size, subtract 3 from outside length
1/2" wide belt=A size, subtract 2 from outside length

Unless you are dealing with a 3L, 4L,5L, etc. then the outside length is what is specified.
so say a 5L 50 actually measures 50" on the outside measurement
also on a variable belt the "V" on the sides can be a different angle.

Thank you for that explanation. Didn't know any of that. Now, how can I tell if a belt is designed to run on the back side of the belt on an idler and wrap wround the corners on a CC mule drive. Is there an industry standard code that signifies this? Or how do I tell?

Use a factory belt or a proven aftermarket that others have successfully used.
Goodyear insta-power is a proven and specified belt for 1/4-1/2 twists and backside idlers.
I'm sure there are others, but it is what I use successfully.
it is not cheap but less costly than factory .
Ebay is your friend on prices.

Default belts

I have a Cub Cadet ltx 1040 built 2012 with a 46" deck and needed a new belt for the deck found one at Home depot for a 46". Not paying attention I put it on and it is to long. took it off and measured it and it was 107" measured the old one and it is 103".
So if your looking for belts make sure you check it before you send the time putting on. I called Cub and they said 103.25" is the correct belt for my model. So don't trust the packaging it said 46" deck. can't find the right belt so I bought A101

question is " will a regular v belt work and last at all or am I spending time and money just to be disappointed again?" I'm sure someone has tried this before. Thanks

Interesting, two different vendors (partstree.com and cubparts.com) show the LTX1040 with only a 42" deck.
None shown with 46" deck.
The 42" deck using a #954-04060C V-BELT A x 96.5"

You can try what you bought but if it is not designed to be "back bent" it will not last long.

Just because the sleeve says "Cub Cadet and 46" deck belt" it needs to also be the correct item number for your tractor. There are just too many different Cub Cadet lawn tractors running 46" decks and many different belts for them all over the years. Also confirm that the belt has the same number on it as the sleeve it is in.

my model number is 13wx91at056 and I could not find it any where. it was made in 2012. So I called the company. Anyway once I took it apart I got a good lesson.
The second time went a lot faster and it turned out to be easier than I thought it would be. Thanks for your time. This was posted to such an old post I thought no one would see it. I'll have to try it and find out I don't think I can cancel the order, it's most likely on it's way. I ordered two as I figure it may not last.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
