My dad purchase his "O" from the city of Montréal in the late 60's, he was a special order with the color of the city (Ugly forest green), It was an OEM special order color not a repainted yellow cub, they order few hundred but none could be found today. I suspect my "Red100" to be a special order too since there is no single trace of yellow base coat paint anywhere. They are both "Unique" but they still are customized cub.

The 100 is in storage until I found all the parts I need to restore it (Read not over priced parts..) I'm still questioning myself about the color I should paint it, if I follow Jon thinking it's gone be red, but without proof to justify why he was painted this color it's just another custom painted Cub Cadet not looking has they supposed to... (AKA Yellow and White) I think the OP can do whatever he want as long he end up with a smile on his face.

PS:How about white 901 and the hood/wheel/seat/grill white 935?

The reason I'm so bent on "building" a custom tractor is as follows. I'm 17, I have an itch to build that plastic models can't scratch anymore. The 73 I've been working on with my dad (not perfect, but a quality restoration. Sandblasted parts, good paint, original parts, staying to the book) has been my "high" for the past few months, I just can't get enough of the feeling I get when I'm working on it, the feeling that I am bringing this little piece of history back to life and it's got my hand on it. I also have the itch to build something that is mine, and by mine, I mean something that nothing like it has existed before i got my hands on the piece of "scrap" I pulled out of a barn over the hill. I haven't found what that thing is yet, but I will, so just bear with me when I start taking about custom paint, tachs, and some different lights. Stay tuned and I'll make y'all proud.

What you are talking about doing is no different than guys putting in the wrong engine, adding power steering on machines it was never offered on, adding armrests, LED lights, genuine 3pt hitch, duals, ag tires on the front, the list goes on forever. As long as you don't butcher a rare or pristine original condition machine, I highly doubt any of us will give you any grief over your custom build. Just remember, cutting, drilling and welding are "kind of" permanent alterations. Paint comes back off fairly easy.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
