See for yourself here: http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/showthread.php?t=824 Some John Deere tractors used a 12 amp S/G, but not CC. |

The last 2 S/G's I had serviced, the rebuilder (in the business for many decades) said one was a hi-torque unit for what ever that is worth.

I think the later ones were..... but don't know for sure. The older ones don't seem to have the torque, and used a smaller pulley. When they made the change to the larger pulley, I believe is when the switch was made.

I believe on my 100, the earlier ones with timing advance cam had a smaller pulley than the later with compression release cam.

FOR THE RECORD....
I have checked and researched the 108 in the old TC-157 Paper Parts Manual and the new Web Site Version. The 108 only had ONE option for the S/G Bracket and only ONE option for the Starter-Generator. The Bracket, as said before, is-----------> KH-235373 The Starter-Generator is/was..... IH-1101691-------> IH-330820Z Regardless of recollections, opinions, and third party claims, the above data is FACT.

Another fact: in the year 2018, two different starters are available for the 108, a 12 amp and a 15 amp.

You're right, thanks! I missed that but even if I had noticed, I still would have wanted to know whether there were any other differences.

So WTF is your point Wayne? You just want to argue that you have a choice? If all you want is to choose which one you buy then you could have done that without asking any questions! You said you wanted to get the right one, and it to fit. Well, we gave you the answer, now you are argueing....just like every damn time you post on here. Wanna know why I pick on you? That's why. Because you don't know beans, but always want to argue.

But if you think me or Cub Cadet is wrong, show us the 12 Amp Generator that Cub Cadet used from a Cub Cadet source.

This is from the Original Farmall Cub and Cub Cadet book by Kenneth Updike.
I don't know if it's fact or fiction. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
