I've been wanting to get some for my original... I know the lights themselves are easy to get, but the housings? any tips on a close match for these?

I usually find them for $2-$15 each for my originals, but I get very lucky and know what to look for. I don't re-sell them as I use them on my originals. However, the IH lights on the old combines is the exact same light from the guide company, that is why some of mine were painted white originally.

If you want a less expensive way to add lights to your cub, some guys will bolt on a steel tube or bar just behind the grill/front housing and mount lights to it from a Harbor Freight store or something similar. You should be able to add lights to your cub for around $35 or so.

I bought a hole saw to drill the holes for the grommets that hold the headlights in. I think the grommets were about three bucks a piece.

I know the narrow frame light kits are a bit more complicated, but they should be available from used parts suppliers, such as Chris Westphal's in the sponsors above, or somebody has a roller with a headlight set in it. The want ad is a good idea.

Lights are cool. Good luck with your project.
Which beams did you use from NAPA? One of the headlights on my Quietline is out and after taking it out I realized that it's one big sealed glass piece and couldn't figure out how to replace the bulb...

EDIT:

Nevermind, thanks to Methos for giving me the part # (didn't see that post at first).

Found them on Amazon for $5/piece shipped (2 day if you have prime) for those that are interested: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i00

So Chris has a unit from 147. Anyone try this and put a 147 headlight unit in a 108?

They are not the same. The bezels are, but the panel itself is totally different.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
