Sweet! I have said it before, will say it again....When I grow up, I wanna be like MATT!! Lucky guy to have such a fleet of 82 Series tractors. There is only one other guy I know of having a larger fleet that shares with us.
 Great family Matt, you worked hard on them to raise them from the depths of possible destruction in a junk yard. You removed any possiblitly of them rusting away in an overgrown fence line, left for no one to enjoy. You should be proud! :biggrin2.gif:  I can't wait to see what that loader can do in the snow this year!

I was pretty surprised to open this thread the other day and find my 'family picture' in it...
There isn't much of a story for these tractors, but MH is actually right...it's quite possible none of these would exist if it hadn't been for me. My dad found the 782 in fall '07. It had a rebuilt series II that threw a rod. I later discovered the idiot that rebuilt the engine left some extra pieces inside and also got really carried away with the RTV to seal the case halves, so a glob of RTV clogged the oil passage in the crank, causing it to throw a rod up into the top of the engine, breaking basically everything but one jug and the crank. I put in an M18 that used to be in my 582. The series II is being rebuilt as an M18 one of these days. I have all the parts, but haven't had the time to put it back together. It now has split brake pedals of my own design and has been in limited use year-round. It moves trailers and dead tractors in the summer, picks up leaves with a Trac-Vac in the fall, and clears snow in the winter. The 682 was another auction find by my dad in the spring of '10. Apparently the engine blew up and the tractor sat in the guy's yard as a lawn ornament until his wife made him get rid of it at an auction. It now wears the loader that came on a really messed-up 124 I bought a few years ago. I spent two years looking for a 682, missed some better deals, but this was by far the best one I've seen, and the paint on the tractor is all-original. Here is the thread that contains basically everything I did to get this from engineless roller to functional loader. The 782D was on ebay in spring '07. I paid too much for it because the guy selling it had a ridiculous minimum bid, but would have parted it if there were no bids. It needed a lot of work and the deck was trashed, but I'm pretty happy with it now. I have since added a Cat-0 3-point. Someday it will get an iron rearend, but as it has been one of my most reliable tractors, I hate to take it down long enough to do the swap. Now that I have the 1872 to back it up, that might be possible. I mow, bag grass, and pull a plow with this one.
