Default First mow of the season, my fault.

First mow at the farm this season and things didn't go well. The rain this spring has been ridiculous. Today is maybe the second nice day in the past month.
With the farm being a one hour drive away thought I'd rush down after work and have two hours to mow grass. With the Scag I can mow all 4+ acres in 2 hours 12 minutes. Well I was delayed getting out of town for 45 minutes. More on that later. So now I'm down to 1 hour 15 minutes of daylight for mowing with the Scag. But the Scag won't start. Found the positive wire decided to rot off in the off season. Ok second choice 1872 with 50C deck. No good there, crank but no start. I got it to hit with ether but not keep running. So let's go with the 1811, 50C deck. Yes the one I bought for a parts tractor several years ago. It started and mowed for about 45 minutes until dark. Got things mowed around the house, pond and driveway. The big open space will just have to wait. The reason for my delay getting out of town. Found a decent 2284 with a 54" deck, 10 minutes from my house. I know no pictures it didn't happen, I was in to big of a hurry. So after work wasn't a total waste.

So you're the one who beat me to that 2284.... Congrats, that sure seemed like a sweet deal.

Still wet and muddy over my way. I usually get after the yard with my heavy yard roller before mowing season starts.

WE got snow overnight, literally no growth to any grass.
And the flowers, even the crocus are not up, just barely out of the ground.
Just been cold, running *10-15 below normal.
looks like next weekend maybe warmer.
It was warmer in February, no joke.
Yep Global warming @ it's best

I mowed with deck full up and still balled it up some. With bad weather coming again for the next week. I'm afraid things will get away from me. I hate mowing over it twice.

You are mowing? My grass isn't even green yet. We got a half inch of snow this morning.

Here in the South its go time for grass! Mowed at least 3 times this year. Tonight we grabbed the 1811 and the 982, neither had been cranked in months. For whatever reason that 1811 likes to only crank if the starter is spinning 5,000 Rpms, had to run booster cables to it and it fired right up. Its weird, starter seems to turn fast enough and the battery seems strong enough. As soon as I get a chance (Round-tuit) I'll see whats up. May just need charging or a new battery.

This is what it would look like if I mowed my lawn. It was just getting warm, and the grass was growing, now we're supposed to get snow tonight.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
