Than you for sharing those pictures. Being from sd, and iowa, never seen tree cutting like that before.

Reminds me of a story:
A farmer in north dakota discovered oil on his property. He had a couple wells setup and one was near his house.

Later, the farmer ordered a couple brand new ford pickups and had the dealer bring them out.

The dealer unloaded the pickups and looked around noticing the wells. He asked the farmer if that well keeps him up at night?

The farmer replied, " only when it stops".

Are they going to clear or selective cut?

Will they be leaving a nice buffer along your original property?

Either way, you and your equipment will have plenty of seat time in the next few years.

My Dad and his brother sold timber off the family farm about 20 years ago now.
40 acre low land plot, selective cutting.
Forester said that half the value was in just one tree way in back at around $15k for that one tree.
And it would be shipped from MI to Japan for furniture veneer.
Can't remember the species though.

30 acres will be clear cut,,

Here is the landing area harvested logs,,

This is the landing area pulp wood,,,

All of that wood was pretty much cut in one day,,
they still do not have a way to get trucks to the logs,,,
there will be a LOT of gravel hauled in next week,,,,

EVERY twig going out will go across this bridge,,,

Where are the OSHA railings??

If you are clear cutting, give it about 5 years to get thick with undergrowth and you will be over run with Bambi and the family.

Now they will have excellent cover for raids of your garden! We found the easy way to deal with them--its called a grocery store. You'll soon have lots of "friends" wanting to come hunt on your place. If its like here, shoot 1 deer and 10 more come to the funeral.
You going to plant it in pines or let mother nature have here way with it?

My soil is the perfect pH for poplar trees,, I have lots of limestone rocks.
the stump of each cut down poplar tree will want to send up "water sprouts"

The sprouts will be fed by a root system of a fully developed tree.
The sprouts will grow like crazy, compared to any seedlings.

So,, there is a 99.5% chance the land will repopulate in poplar,,, QUICKLY!!

That is good, pine has zero value around here,, I should get some hickory,,
maybe some oak,, I may plant a few walnut trees,,,

My grandchildren should see a valuable poplar saw log harvest.

Good deal with the Poplars, they do well here also. Walnuts are, as you are aware I am sure, 2-3 generations away before any money will be realized.

Back in the late 80's a lot of farmland was pulled out of crop production around here and put into pines. You get first and second cuttings about 15-20 years apart, followed by a final cutting of large timber much later. Eastern NC is full of managed pine forests, virtually no hardwoods. I prefer mixed forest myself, nothing but pine trees to look at is rather bland.

Seems like all of their equipment is rather new and shiny for logging.

Maybe you sold too low, LOL.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
