Default Cub cadet 1535

During my travel today I saw a 1535. I don’t know much about the cyclops series. Wasn’t a hydro it was a gear drive and had a creeper box. Was this an aluminum rear housing? Is the creeper common or an option? Had no engine. What should have been in it? Also saw a 5234D? Slowed down enough to read the #s but didn’t stop to check it out. MTD super diesel?

1535 was the only Cyclops produced gear drive tractor. Creeper was standard, IIRC. Should have had a Mag 15 twin in it. (Detuned Mag 18.) Very, very rare machine. Not many made. You should go buy it! Where in Kentucky did you see it? How much?

The 5234 is a SCUT tractor, not in the GT family. Not much to say. Made by another company and branded as a Cub Cadet. Not real good machines. Lots of issues.

There was a 1535 on Craigslist a while back and I still kick myself for not buying it. It looked to be in great shape and as Jon pointed out they are very rare.

John I’ll find out what he wants for it next time I’m by there. It’s been sittin outside for a while pretty rough but looked like it was all there but the engine. I thought it might be rare being a gear drive.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
