Anyone ever speed up a 48" IH deck?
Ever since i cut my lawn with a 782/50c i was so amazed with how well the lawn looked when i was done that ive been searching for a way to speed up the 48. Ive seen a lot of guys speed up the 44/50" decks but what about the IH 48 with cast nose? i always heard the older cub decks spin slower then other colored decks so, i did a blade tip speed check with a laser tach. I wound up with 3560 RPM at the blades tip which matched exactly to the engine RPM on the 127. (i guess that's what cub was aiming for). is there a pulley out there that i can get to speed these blades up?

There is a speed up pulley that went in the center of the deck- IE the one that accepts the belt from the engine and also drives the belt for the other two blades. IMO I've used both the 50" deck and a 48" and while the 50" throws grass farther the 48" cuts better because (I think) it's taller. I prefer the 48" triangle cast iron center decks.

well shoot, looks like im going to have to make my own. ill try getting an OEM center pulley and split it and see if i cant mate up a smaller one on the top section. anyone know the size the "speed up" pulleys are for the 44" decks? i think that would be a go size to start with.
