Default New guy old tractor

First off, hello

I bought a 2072 Cub Cadet, with 60" Haban deck to mow grass with and was looking for implements. I'm not sure what will work and what will not work. I'm looking for a snow plow and a box scraper, with a 3 point hitch. Can you guys give me some insight on what will work?

Oh is there anyway to use a bagger system with that deck ?

Welcome JohnT!!!

Does your new to you 2072 have a 3-point hitch set up on the back already? If not you will be limited to pull type attachments.

Thanks for the response
No , I was going to purchase one , knowing with out it I don't have a lot of options , for a back drag blade or scraper box setup , I've tried to research some about different 3point cat -0 , but it's a little hard trying to put this all together if you know what mean.

Do you know where to purchase them at? We can recommend a couple people that make aftermarket ones.

As far as Cat 0 rear implements.... good luck. They are out there, and they do make new.... but it's probably easier to buy a new blade than to find a used one. Not many companies build Cat 0 attachments.

As far as a front blade, the one made for that machine was made by Haban. They are 54" blades and they usually sell for around $350. You can put on a 54" IH built blade, they sell a little cheaper, but they aren't as heavy as the Habans.

No, they did not make a bagger for the 60" Haban deck. Why would you want one on a deck that big anyway......

Well , could you give me the aftermarket company that makes them . Or better yet do you guys recommend a different kind of hitch that will work better ? With a scraper box or back drag blade?

As far as bagger system goes , I was going to use it to pick up leafs in the fall , I had seen another fellow on here switches his deck out in the fall so he could use the same tractor and bagger to pickup leafs , Seemed like a good idea .

Aaron at xtrememotorworks.com makes them. You need the '82 series and up super garden tractor hitch.

Bill Ruegg also makes them. He's more of a Deere guy, but if you contact him he does make the SGT hitch for Cub Cadets. I don't know why he doesn't advertise it. His is made very well, and costs slightly less than the xtreme hitch.

There are no "different kinds" of 3pt hitches. Only one. If you don't like the design, member Rescue11 has redesigned the cat 0 Cub Cadet hitch, and I'm sure if you pony up, he will build you one. But you will have to do much modification on your end, and it won't be easy. Otherwise, your choice is OEM, the two guys I listed, or build your own. If building your own, remember, to work with implements, there are specs that it has to meet or it won't work with the implement.

Personally, I don't think it even begins to be worth the hassle of adding a bagger system. You would have to own two subframes, two decks, and the 3pt arms would have to be removed to use the bagger. Your better off getting a tow behind vac and attaching it to the Haban deck if you really need some way to pick up leaves.
I live in the country. Mine just blow away.

I looked both the hitch company and believe it or not Bill Ruegg only about 1 1/2 hours from where I live at now . I was looking at the vac system as backup plan . But this is great information. Can't wait to play with my new old toy .

I have been surfing around here a lot looking at different ideas does cub make a box scrapper ?

And one more question can the cub apply down pressure from the 3 point or do you need to add weigh to it ? Like for the box scrapper.

I vote for a trailer type vacuum system. Rear mount baggers seem to work well on small 2 blade deck mowers--little machines. You just don't see many on bigger machines, regardless of the brand.

How about posting some pics of your 2072 when you get a chance, we love to see new additions to the OCC family.

PS:South coast of what? Florida? New Orleans? California?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
