Man O'man,... I'd love to have that 3pt. and cultivator on my 100.

Nice looking project, thanks for the pictures.

The grill was pushed back some. Someone drilled a second set of holes so the hood could clear the steering wheel.

Here is how the hood looks primed. There is only 1 hole on each side now.

White parts were painted first this time.

Brake is not working right on the 70 and the tractor is hard to push. I desided to drain the oil in the rear end.

This doesn't look good.

There was an half inch of junk inside the rear end.

Little rust on the gear shifter base

Now to repair the brake.
The brake linkage needs to be removed first.

Remove the front cover.

Remove big reduction gear. I used a impact to remove the center bolt.

Remove the 4 bolts holding the reduction housing on. Housing pulls straight off. The brake disc will stay in the housing.

Housing/disc off the rear end/trans.

Clean up time.

The o-ring on this piston was the reason the brake was hanging up.

I will clean the bore the piston fits in.

The new o-ring is greased so it makes it easier to install the o0ring/piston assembly.
Trans/rear end clean.

New Gaskets for trans:

Service manual is needed.....some of the bolts need torque.
Trans going back together:

I like to paint the front and rear covers.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
