Default Manuals

I need to re-assemble the center bearing spindle for a 50 inch deck. Any idea where I can find a manual that shows the correct order for installing the parts?

Which deck specifically? There are several 50" decks.

Default Dimensions and ID number of deck

Hi - Thanks for the reply. The longest length of the deck to the outside edges is actually about 53 inches. The Identification Number on the plate is 482U-1112.

You have a 48" Mower Deck.

Thanks for the reply. - From your answer, I gather that the 48 in the "482" part of the ID number refers to the deck size. And since the longest dimension on the deck is 53 inches, can I infer that the 48 inch size refers to the outermost rotation span from blade to blade? (In effect, that would be the actual swath that is cut by the blades.) Finally, how do I go about finding an exploded view of the bearing spindles that show the correct order to install the o-rings, multiple bearings, multiple spacers, etc.? This deck actually goes on a 127. I really appreciate your help.

There are 2 ways I've found to locate the parts breakdown on Cub Cadet's website for the mower decks. First is to find a tractor model that has it listed under the attachments. For some reason it doesn't show up under a 127, but it does a 125. The second is to type in "48" 3 spindle deck" into the search criteria. So, here is a link to the breakout in question.

Mower deck sizes are ALWAYS determined by it's cutting swath or width. Overall sizes means NOTHING.

When looking up parts for the 48" deck, be advised there are three (3) generations of this deck. Pay attention and make sure you have the right deck when comparing your deck to a parts listing.

Yes, good call, there are 3 generations. I forgot to mention that. The "2" in "482" means you've got the second generation, which is where the link will take you that I provided. I own two of the 482 and one of the 483. They are great decks and cut very nicely.

I really appreciate all of the information you folks provided. That is the beauty of a website such as this one. I'll re-assemble things this coming weekend, and then post here how things worked out.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
