Default 102? transmission & rear end

I'm not positive, but I think this item is a manual transmission & complete rear end out of a 102 based on the tag number.

The tag is either 182128 or 182428. It's got a minor tear at the 4th digit that makes it hard to read. The case says IH 885058R1 on one side and 11 15 M on the other side. It is currently red, but has a few bolt heads that are yellow. Based on my research it looks to have the internal brake.

A friend of mine asked me to get an ID on it and what it is worth. He knows that the manual transmissions are sought after by pullers, but that is about all.

Not being all that CC knowledgeable any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I wouldn't give more than $50 for it unless it had a creeper gear attached to it.

It could be out of a 71, 102 or 122 no matter what the 4th digit is. The 71 is a short tunnel, so the shifter is shorter than the other two. All 3 tractors had internal brake.

What is it worth? $50. There are a million of gear drive transmissions out there. Not hard to find one, so the price is not high.

Thanks guys.

I didn't think it was worth a whole lot, he just wanted to know what to list it at. I'll let him know and he can make his own decision. I think he thought it might be worth more because of the "pullers".

Thanks again.

Only certain parts from certain rearend's are desirable to pullers and non of those parts are in the rearend your friend has.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
