But the solenoid has to be grounded to test.

Oh, and watch out.... I've had plungers shoot out before.

After looking at the diagram, I'd be looking at the ignition switch.

Twbas:
If when you are talking about replacing the "ignition module" you are referring to the magneto, don't do it. If it was bad, it wouldn't start and run at all. It's not very likely that the fuel solenoid just suddenly crapped out, but it wouldn't be the first time something like that happened. I am betting is an electrical supply voltage issue. Just leave the solenoid mounted and unplug it. Test the power coming to it with the key on. Should have power in both the first and second "ON" positions. It should also get power when the key is in the "start" position. You can test with the starter hooked up, but I would disable it for testing. (Unhook small wire from the starter solenoid.) I'm betting there is a power supply problem with the ignition switch on the "A1" terminial in the first "ON" position above "START".

But I'm not there testing, so you have to do the work and figure it out.

Sorry for not getting back with everyone had some issues that needed attending to. First off I bought a new tester this morning the old one I had wasn’t working so checked the fuel solenoid again and it was working so I went back to the ignition switch as I was taking the ignition out I went to unplug it I noticed the head lights going off and on so I held the switch tight to keep the head lights on and started it up as long as I held the switch tight it kept on running let go of the switch and it stalled out so I guess I’ll get a new switch. Just want to thank everyone for the help it was greatly appreciated. Thank you, Tom

Check the terminals in the connector for the switch. Common corrosion point. Replace/repair as necessary.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
