149 Fiberglass Cowl
Painting my fiberglass cowl and had primer not cover on parts of it. I used rustoleum spray can light grey primer and it did not do well. Something I am doing wrong for sure. I did not sand clear down to the fiberglass all over, mostly where I did body filler. I did sand all of cowl and then re-sanded with 220 grit. I did not notice these places until I sprayed with primer. Also, it seemed to cover ok but when it dried the places showed. Any help will be appreciated. Picture attached. Have a great day.

It could be contaminated with oil or something that paint just doesn't like to stick to or that area just didn't get sanded well.
Might try wiping those areas off with lacquer thinner, enamel reducer maybe denatured alcohol (whatever you have on hand) and sand again with 320 wet. You shouldn't need to go all the way to bare fiberglass, just break the glaze and you should be good. For hard to get to areas like that, sand as best you can and then try some scotchbrite (wet) to get down into those little corners.

I agree with Mark, it was probably same contamination.

Re-sanded really well in the areas that were cracking. put on the primer and all was well. Couple hours later I sprayed the white, rattle can. Turned out fairly good. No doubt, the better you sand the better it will look. Thanks again for the help and have a great day.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
