Default Spring Assist

My son and I just got the 72 running, changed the tires, put the sleeve hitch on and did some plowing this weekend. Here is my question: did they make a hydraulic lift for the 72 or does the spring assist work well enough? He is 10 and lifting the plow is a little difficult. Thanks

I have a spring assist on my 73. I plowed with a 10" Brinly plow, and if you have it adjusted to help out a lot, it doesn't take much effort to raise the plow. They did make hydraulics as options for the NF cadets. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information. I will try and find the spring assist or the hydraulics. Any idea of where to look?

You could get both the IH and Brinly spring assist and would still be cheaper than you usually find a NF hydro setup.

The IH assist can be mounted without a 3pt, but the Brinly assist is clamped to the lift bar for the 3pt. So you can install both and get extra help. But that also brings us to Jason's post about being too much help and lifting the plow out of the ground. I think I have read that Dale Merkle locks his lift in the down position. Dale, please correct me if I'm wrong. I've never plowed before, just regurgitating what I've read online. I'm a digital plow boy!!!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
