I need help with a RZT50
Hi Everyone,
First let me tell you I am female who knows little about lawn equipment, but I own 2 cub cadets - a 3165 lawn tractor and a RZT50 lawn mower. Both of them have some age on them. With the RZT50 it screeches with turns and I was wondering if transmission fluid might help with it. It runs good, but does burn a little old since it is so old. Other than the screeching, it is a great mower! I bought the RZT50 in 2004 or maybe even before that - I bought that one used. and the zero turn has seen better days. I'm going to be honest with you, I have to go to YouTube to watch the videos in order to do anything to the mowers and even then I have a difficult time as I am not familiar with the terminology in repairing these things, but I am trying. I can't afford to take them to the Cub Cadet dealership for repairs and have to fish these things out for myself. Thanks for your help. Kidwellsped |

It never hurts to check fluids. Does the sound come from the rear or front??.. Maybe bad barring's. Grease, I grease everything. go from there..
Hope this helps,, it has been some time from your post date.. I am the same as far as youtube,, it helps with a lot. breaks, just one thought.

I am not totally familiar with that model, but it sounds like the problem is in your left transmission. As already mentioned, check fluid first. If it is residential, then the transmissions are not worth rebuilding. I have a 2008 Commercial Zero Turn, but I have never had any problem with it yet.

I think they are sealed units. They are notorious for blowing trans up. How many hours on the machine.

I would think that since she asked the question in JULY,
she would have it taken care of by now or I sure hope she did. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
